Create a Promo Notebook
Promo codes can be a very valuable saving technique. The challenging part about making the most of them is that sometimes when you find them, you may not be ready to make a purchase. While some of these discount codes are easy to remember such as SPRINGSALE2013, others are more obscure such as D28NA. Creating a savings notebook can be a valuable way to save all of those fantastic virtual coupons for those times when you are ready to use them.
Virtual or Physical Notebook
First, put together a notebook. It can be either virtual or physical so long as it is well organized. Prepare a series of columns. You should have one for the title of the hosting site, the location where you found the code, and the code itself. Make sure that you have additional room for any restrictions which might apply. For instance, it’s not uncommon for those discounts to only apply to certain items or perhaps only to certain times. You may want to organize this alphabetically or by date. However, whichever form you choose, make sure that you do it consistently. Switching between forms will make it harder. Chronological organizations are easiest for physical notebooks.
Keep on Top of It
The first time you do this will take the longest. Go through your email and your mail and find all of the available codes that you might want to use. Double check the information to make sure that it is correct. One off letter can ruin the entire code. Then, once you are done, regularly update it. Try to add the new codes as soon as you learn about them. This way you don’t have to worry about losing them in the rush of the day.
Whenever you use a code, make sure that you cross it off your list. You may also want to include information about any problems you encountered. This way you know when you have used a code and whether you need to use it.
Virtual Calendar System
For those of you who are particularly organized or who take your savings very seriously, you might even create a virtual calendar with reminders and appointments for the deadlines. Input all of the relevant information in the appointment slot and then save it to your calendar so that it will send a reminder to your email before the promotional period ends. This can be quite time consuming if you have a lot to add. Consider whether this will really help you in the long run or whether you would rather use a simpler method. Or, if you have a lot to add, you could hire a teenager to input the information for you for a few bucks an hour and save yourself additional time.
These are a few of the methods which you can use to save all of the codes that you come across along with virtual coupons. By organizing them this way, you will maximize your savings because you will actually remember to use them.
