Life Insurance Policies of Celebrities with Risky Behavior
There are all kinds of factors that go into determining how expensive an individual’s life insurance policy is going to be. Generally, the healthier and the safer life a person lives the cheaper their life insurance is going to be. This is because life insurance companies know that someone that lives an unhealthy or dangerous lifestyle is much more likely to need life insurance than others. This is especially true when it comes to celebrities that don’t exactly live a safe and secure life. Celebrities often make decisions that lead to their financial downfall in more ways than one. There are certain celebrities that are notorious for living the kind of life that insurance companies want absolutely nothing at all to do with.
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan is notorious for living a dangerous lifestyle. She has been arrested for speeding, driving under the influence, assault and a host of other crimes over the last several years. She is also known for getting drunk and doing drugs at parties in both Hollywood and New York City. This means that insuring her is not easy. Any movie company that casts Lindsay Lohan is taking a big chance with her, when it comes to insurance coverage. It costs a lot more money to insure her than to insure other actresses that live a safer and smarter lifestyle. Between the cost of insuring her for a movie and the cost of insuring her for her life, Lindsay Lohan has become quite an expensive commodity.
Lance Armstrong
Another celebrity that has been involved in recent controversy is Lance Armstrong. This is due to the fact that he was found guilty of using steroids while he was competing in the Tour de France. The seven titles that he was awarded with during the tours have all been taken away from him due to his use of drugs to enhance his physical performance. He was also banned from all bicycling events for the rest of his life. It is now much harder for Lance Armstrong to obtain life insurance because of his drug use.
Jose Reyes
New York Met’s Jose Reyes participated in only 36 games during the 2009 baseball season because he had an injury to his calf. He was then later diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. Reyes was accused of using performance-enhancing drugs that led to his injury and thyroid condition.
Britney Spears
Much like Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears is also known to live a dangerous lifestyle. She has been caught driving under the influence, driving without a license, and many other offense, some involving alcohol and drugs. Several years ago Britney Spears had a meltdown and shaved her head after getting into a series of dangerous situations at the hands of her own carelessness. Her record label has to pay a large amount of money to insure her, and so do her concert promoters.
Living a dangerous lifestyle can be costly for anyone, but it becomes even more costly for celebrities who make bad decisions that lead to controversy, legal troubles and the downfall of their careers.
It is weird to think how these insurance companies know so much more about their celebrity clients than they do their average clients… then again, there is a lot of money at stake.
